Are you looking for some good reasons to skip out on that gym membership you aren't using? Or maybe you are trying to wrestle between signing up at the gym or working out at home or maybe you just like top ten lists - whatever your fancy is - here the top 10 reasons to work out at home in honor of July 10 and our top ten on the 10th day. (Yes, I know - any excuse to do a list!)

  • Working out at home can happen on your schedule - all you need is your own home equipment or fitness tapes or cardio equipment and you don't need a gym. For those of us with constantly fluctuating schedules, the home workout lets you work out on demand
  • Working out at home lets you set the tone and the environment - you can decorate it to your tastes and you don't have to listen to piped in music or other people grunting on the machine next to you
  • Working out at home means you don't have to wait for equipment to be available - your equipment is always available to you
  • Working out at home lets you save money after your initial investments - you aren't spending money on gas, child care or gym membership dues and fees
  • Working out at home means you don't have anyone looking at you, talking to you or judging you while you are working out
  • Working out at home is facilitated through a variety of online programs from the Trainer to Go programs to the eDiets fitness offerings to personal training programs
  • Working out at home means you don't have to depend on the gym daycare and you can even get your kids involved in your workout
  • Working out at home means you can manipulate your workout to allow for two or three sub workouts a day rather than one dedicated hour or more at a time
  • Working out at home incorporates a lot of creativity into your workout, you can change it up in multiple ways and are not limited to a gym's class schedule
  • Working out at home means you are exercising and improving your personal levels of fitness for you and your family

This list doesn't mean to knock working out in a gym, I've had a great time when I've had gym memberships. But ultimately, I always return to my home workout and the flexibility it offers to me and my family for our personal fitness choices.
