I have never been shy about sharing my struggles with food. I have an established workout routine, which I do fall away from every once-in-a-while but for the most part, I remain consistent.

I have mentioned in previous blogs that I seem to have the exercise routine down pretty good. I am consistently working out each week at a minimum of 3 times but more often than not, 4 to 5 times.
However where I continue to struggle is with my eating.

Recently I mentioned in a blog some of my mid-years goals. One of my goals was to eat three fruits and three vegetables a day. This has been going really well and has helped me to explore new foods.
Previously, one of my favorite veggies to snack on was carrots.

You may remember that six years ago the USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture) came out with a new and improved food pyramid.
Growing up I distinctly remember the old food pyramid (originating in 1992) because it was often found on the back of my cereal boxes. I pretty much had it memorized.

If there is one thing that can quickly demolish your efforts at a fit lifestyle it is snacking. Okay, maybe that's only true for me.
For a long time I had no problem getting in enough exercise on a daily basis.

Keeping a food journal is something you might want to do for different reasons. Some people want to keep a close watch on how many calories, fat, or carbohydrates they are consuming. Others might want to just see in list form all the food they are eating.
