A pedometer does more than just keep track of your steps. I really believe it can help you lose weight. First of all, if you are new to the idea of walking for exercise you might not realize how many steps a day you are taking.

I want to note here that the idea to average your steps, increase your daily average by 2,000 and then increase by 500 thereafter was not my original idea. Have you read the book The Step Diet? It is a great book explaining the power of walking to help lose weight.

Are you a perfectionist? I am. If Heather, or the book says that I have to walk 10,000 steps then 5,000 simply won't do. The problem is that sometimes our desire to be perfect, sets us back or even worse, prevents us from getting started. If you think about it--it's silly.
