Why not get started now? There is nothing wrong with looking at certain opportunities as the perfect time to start a fitness routine. Should You Take a Spring Break from Fitness?

You didn’t really read this thinking I was going to suggest you take a break, did you? When I arrived to teach my fitness class this morning I learned that the facility had not scheduled classes due to Spring Break. That got me thinking, should we take a break? I do think it is important that you keep your routine fresh. Also, it is important to make sure that you don’t overtrain. I always suggest at least one day of rest and staggering days of resistance and cardio training. I don’t advise though, taking an actual break. Once you stop … Continue reading

If your goal is to lose more … Continue reading

How to Stick to Your New Year’s Resolutions

The fresh start of a new year inspires lots of people to make New Year’s resolutions. Some of the most popular resolutions include losing weight/exercising more, saving money/managing debt, and stress reduction. What’s on your resolution list? According to the IHRSA (International Health, Racquet, and Sports Club Association), January is the biggest month for new gym memberships — New Year’s is a huge boost for the exercise industry. But as many as forty percent of those new signups stop going within the first three months. (Some experts say the number is even higher than forty percent!) We make these big, … Continue reading

How to Learn More About Your Spouse

Even though Wayne and I celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary last month, have been together over 20 years total, and know each other about as well as we can, we don’t know everything. Surprisingly, we’re still learning new things about each other. For Example… Take this past weekend. Last week in “The Things He Does For Love: Ghost Hunting Classes” I wrote how Wayne agreed to attend a ghost hunting class with me. It was something I wanted to do, but something that would take up our together time during a weekend Wayne was home. Ghosts fascinate me. (Or, I … Continue reading

Where is our Fitness Blog Week in Review?

Unfortunately, the craziness this week precluded a lot of fitness articles to cover for the fitness blog. We did take a look at exercise styles, but this week just didn’t lend itself to focusing on fitness as much as I would like. What Did We Do? My daughter and I did two miles per day on our bikes. We also went out for a couple of long walks. They celebrated field day on Monday and water slide day on Wednesday. She came home from school pretty tired, but excited at the same time. We spent one afternoon planning what we’re … Continue reading
