Fitness for Your Emotions

It might be the last thing you think about when you are feeling down but did you know that exercise can put you in a better mood? Think about what you typically do when you are feeling down. Many of us probably turn to food, sit in front of the television or do some other mindless activity. We do these things because they seem to have a numbing affect on us. What happens after you have eaten that whole bag of chips or wasted hours in front of the television? Do you feel any better? No. In fact, you usually … Continue reading

Realistic Exercise Goals

A key element to weight loss is exercise. It’s a lesson I learned early on in my journey to a better body. I can make all the changes I want to my eating habits; however, unless I add exercise, it won’t do me much good. So I decided that this is the year, the month, the week, to begin exercising. If you are anything like me, then you usually start off all gung-ho, ready to make changes, and then a week later you lose the motivation. I find that so frustrating about myself! However, I think I discovered the real … Continue reading

Excuses for Not Exercising: #2 I Am Just Too Tired

“I am just too tired to exercise” is something that I can really relate to, but then I have to remind myself that I will actually have more energy in the end. A typical day in the average American woman’s life: Crawl out of bed and attempt to put yourself together to look presentable for the day. Get the kids up, dressed, fed, organized for their day and try to manage to not get dirty or sweaty yourself in the process (this is extremely tough).Shuffle the kids to school or day care. Go to work and deal with unreasonable and … Continue reading

So, for all of you regular gym goers who are desperately looking for someone to support your decision to take a break from exercising today, you’ve come to the right place. In fact, I actually found a fitness … Continue reading

Looking For My Waist: soliciting weight loss vibes

I know I have not updated my weight loss progress in a while. I am truly sorry. What I am even sorrier about is that I have excuses. You see I am obviously having blood pressure issues causing my feet to swell painfully. I haven’t worn my wedding rings in weeks. Combine that with my hormones being out of whack, and well, you can see why I have not written on my weight loss ‘successes’. I have not had any. Right now, (until my husband’s contract job is permanent, which should be soon) I am focusing on building good habits. … Continue reading

10,000 Steps and Counting: I Failed. . .

I had written a few guest blogs on how I was beginning a 10,000 steps a day program. I am not desperately trying to lose weight although that has been a side effect of what I had been doing. And then we were struck with one “crisis” after another. I got sick. . .then my husband. . .then the twins. . .and well I fell out of the habit. That’s what fitness is really: a good habit. We have a hard time getting fit because we don’t have good habits. Breaking a Good Habit However, I have learned that it … Continue reading
