Fitness & Your Personal Choicesby Heather Long | More from this Blogger 01 Jul 2007 10:16 AM Your sense of personal choice has more to do with your exercise and fitness program than any other thing. Why, you might ask? Simply put, because fitness is a choice that we make. You can read all the studies and reports in the world that advise you to exercise. You can listen to your doctor tell you that you need to exercise and you can listen to your friends, your family and even me tell you how fun it can be, how great it could be and every other story on the planet. But. Yes, you knew there was a but coming. But no matter what we tell you or how we phrase it, it still has to be your choice. You have to choose to exercise. You have to choose the type of exercise. You have to choose when to exercise. You have to choose to do it, day in and day out. No one else can make this choice for you. Fitness is a way of life. It has to do with the choices you make and how you make them. It has to do with setting goals, creating an atmosphere that you want to work out in and then just doing it. So you see, it doesn't matter what fitness equipment is out there - a $1900 piece of equipment is just a dust collector and a hanging rack unless you choose to use it. That sidewalk out there? It's just a sidewalk until you choose to use it. Those workout shorts? They're just a fashion statement until you choose to put them to work for you. Those workout DVDs? They're an empty investment until you choose to use them. People can browbeat you. They can make suggestions. They can offer you tips. They can even award you prizes; but it means nothing until you make a choice to make exercise and fitness a part of your daily routine. So, are you ready to make a choice?
