Fitness DVD Review - Shrink Your Female Fat Zones

It's that time again for one of our fitness DVD reviews and I know it's been a while, but I think you'll enjoy taking a look at Shrink Your Female Fat Zones and maybe I'm being petty but for whatever reason, the title of this Denise Austin workout reminds me of the tired argument between kids over what's a girl toy and what's a boy toy - but then, that's neither here nor there.

Shrink Your Female Fat ZonesSynopsis Denise Austin has created quite a few workout DVDs in her tenure as a fitness guru. She's popular, she's got a great attitude and I know plenty of people who prefer to work out to her tapes and DVDs than to any other. Shrink Your Female Fat Zones targets those areas on a woman's body that may be hard to tone, shrink and burn fat from, such as the:

  • Hips
  • Thighs
  • Tummy
  • Buns
  • Upper Arms

The DVD include 2 full workouts that give you the opportunity to shape your body the way you want to while getting rid of the excess you may be tired of. The workouts are intense, but not overwhelming. They're fun and they help you to identify the troubling areas you may not like working out. Her tummy trimmers are equal parts exasperating and fun because while you can feel the burn when you are working, you may feel impatient to have the exercise work faster.

The workouts require some investment in a few items for equipment. If you want to invest in a stability ball, it costs about $20 and some 3-pound weights about $3 to $4 each at Wal-Mart or Target.

Like many of her previous workout videos, Shrink Your Female Fat Zones is a good one for a beginner and it was interesting to perform. I felt good when I started, I felt good in the middle and I felt good at the end of both workouts. I didn't feel like a wet noodle or limp spaghetti.

This is a good workout for those at the intermediate fitness level and looking for some body shaping and contouring exercises. Now, don't think I didn't work up a sweat, because I did - but I may want to keep this around for a while as I get myself back up to speed from my surgery rebuild some of the tone I lost over the last month.

The only real issues I had with the DVD had to do with the formatting on the DVD itself. While the workouts are clearly different sections, the post-workout cool down is only a part of the second 20-minute workout and you can't just skip ahead to that part. Also, if you don't like Austin's constant chatter - a signature of hers - you won't care for this DVD either.

What About The Workouts?

The two workouts on Shrink Your Female Fat Zones include:

  • the first 20-minute light workout that keeps you moving through a series of toning exercises including some lateral rows, abdominal work, push-ups and more. It's very simple, you won't be jumping up and down and you won't be using the balance ball.
  • The second 20-minute workout gets the balance ball involved and gives you some more core intensive exercises to do as well as working on your legs

I'll give Shrink Your Female Fat Zones at least 4 sneakers. It's a good workout, it's easy and enjoyable to repeat and because you can utilize one or both of the 20-minute workouts, it's an effective way to get in 20 minutes of targeted working out in 3 or 4 days a week.

Great review, I will have to check out the Denise Austin DVD. There's a few DVDs that just came out that I think are really good too. You can check out some reviews of them here. http://www.askmelissa.com/index.php/features/hot_body_hottest_trends
