Hot summers and ice cold drinks go hand in hand like salt and pepper or cheese on a burger - and there's nothing like sipping some ice-cold smoothies that are not only wonderfully cool and tasty, but also good for you. Did I say good for you? Absolutely. As you know, part of the sizzling summer slim down includes follow the Abs Diet from David ZincZenko. Part of the Abs Diet is drinking some of the best-frozen smoothies that I've ever had. They are great as a dessert, a late night snack or a cool refresher on a really hot afternoon. They are low on calories, high on power foods!

Here are a couple of my favorite Power Food smoothies that are a great bonus to your fitness routine providing you with hydration, servings of fruit and dairy.

Belly-Busting Berry

1 scoop low-fat vanilla ice cream ¼ cup each of frozen blueberries, strawberries and raspberries ½ cup of low fat milk 1 tablespoon of vanilla whey protein powder 3 ice cubes serving: 1

Add all of this into the blender and hit the on switch. Pour the smoothie into a tall frozen cup (available at most stores from Target to Wal-mart for under $3) and insert a straw. I promise you, it's not only refreshing and cooling, and it provides you with an energy boost at any time of the day.

Nutritional Information: 251 calories, 15 g protein, 38 g carbs, 4 g total fat, 2 g saturated fat, 4 g fiber

Strawberry Shortcut

1 scoop of low-fat strawberry ice cream ½ cup of frozen strawberries ½ banana ½ cup of low-fat milk 1-tablespoon vanilla whey protein powder 3 ice cubes

Again, it's a frozen strawberry delight that's actually better than a daiquiri and I love a good daiquiri. Throw it all into your blender and hit the on button. Pour it into your ice-cold glass and sip with a straw. Hmm-hmm a great after dinner-frozen treat.

Nutritional Information: 283 calories, 14 g protein, 48 g carbs, 4 g total fat, 2g saturated fat, 5 g fiber
