There's a new sheriff in town and it's been rolled out in a joint effort from Nike and Apple. You may or may not have heard of the new iPod fitness program, but this is a new Nike+iPod sport kit that will coming soon to stores near you. It's futuristic in the sense that your Nike footwear will be able to talk wirelessly with your iPod nano to report your workout data.

How does that work? Basically the sensor inside the Nike+iPod Sport Kit will be inserted into the Nike+ footwear. The in shoe sensors will then record and transmit information on the time spent, distance gone, pace exercised at along with the calories that are burned. All of this data will be available on the iPod Nano and can be displayed on the screen or played back in real-time audio through the head phones.

There will also be a special web site for tracking your persona progress and a iTunes music section just for your fitness program. If you thought the iPod fitness program was great, you're going to love this. What makes the Nike+iPod Sport Kit even more exciting is that it's going to retail for around $29 - that's a bargain for a personal coach and training partner that will walk with you and whisper in your ear.

This is a great stride for runners and walkers alike! I am actually looking forward to getting a pair to shake my workout routine up. I love walking anyway - and the opportunity to blend walking, music and a fitness trainer to my day is looking like a great opportunity.

So check it out - let me know what you think. I've got a big review of the iPod fitness trainer coming to you here soon too. Happy Monday and Happy Memorial Day!
