G is for Glutes

Your glutes are the largest muscle in your body. No, seriously and I’m not telling you that you have a big butt – in fact, far from it. It’s just that the gluteus maximus is the largest, single muscle in your body. There are plenty of other names for your glutes whether you want to call it your rear, your buttocks or your derriere. But the glutes do more than just look good in a pair of jeans. The glutes are engaged every time you stand up or sit down. Since I’m sure you do this on a regular basis … Continue reading

The Pre Pregnancy Jeans (Part II)

I lost twenty pounds in the first few weeks after my daughter was born. Of course I still had the ten pounds left from my first pregnancy. At two weeks post partum I was able to fit into a pair of my post first pregnancy pre second pregnancy jeans. Granted these particular jeans were a bit loose pre pregnancy and at two weeks post partum they were a little tight. Nonetheless, I was very happy that I could fit into these pre pregnancy jeans (which was very different from my first pregnancy; I bought jeans that were four sizes larger … Continue reading

Ballet for Weight Loss

To keep things interesting while you are attempting to whittle your figure down you sometimes need to vary your diet and exercise routine. I do not know how many times I have revamped my diet and exercise program to lose weight, but it was numerous. I did this in order to keep going and not become bored. Had I not done this I probably would have given up a long time ago. Anything to keep things moving is fair game in diet and exercise land in my book. The important thing is to enjoy the exercise that you are doing … Continue reading

Fitness Journal – Pain Management

Part of the goal of this fitness journal is to explore the ways you can document your own fitness. Sometimes we focus just on the workout, other times we focus on what motivated us and today, we’re going to focus on the obstacles in our path to getting where we want to be. Pain Management When we refer to pain management in fitness, we’re talking about our measured response to pain stimulus. I don’t mean we’re interested in causing injury to ourselves. In fact, in fitness pain is a necessary component that warns us if we’ve gone too far or … Continue reading

Fitness Journal – Car Exercises

One of the drawbacks to living in Texas is everything seems so far away. There is not jaunting up to the corner store because the corner store is over a mile and a half from the house. There’s definitely no running down the street for something, because the next closest shop is about two and a half miles. So that means lots and lots and lots of driving around in the car. The great thing about driving around in the car is that there are gl you can do that help firm your abdomen and buttocks. First and foremost, check … Continue reading

Do you have about 30 minutes? Good. I have something you can do right now to help promote better fitness and strength in your everyday life. No, you don’t need any weights or weight training equipment. Instead, put on some comfortable clothes and a pair of comfortable shoes and let’s get started. Let’s start with a calf stretch. It’s important to warm up your muscles before you dive right in. Extend your right leg and press the toes to a wall or sofa. Don’t press forward, but instead squeeze your right leg and just fully extend the knee. You should … Continue reading
