Just Add Water

On Monday, our local swimming pool opened. My daughter was thrilled by the idea and couldn't wait to go swimming for the first time. So I trotted out my four-year-old plain, black swimsuit and dressed her in the new suit we picked up for her because she'd grown.

When we got up to the pool, she had a really good time and I had a great conversation with another mom. The topic was dreading the idea of going swimsuit shopping. Her suit was even older than mine. We compared notes on all the reasons why we don't like to do it:

  • Swimsuits can range in price from $50 to $250.
  • Finding a swimsuit that fits can be nightmarish
  • Our choices are pretty limited
  • Swimsuit shopping makes us self-conscious

The last reason was the largest reason for both of us. After all, the last time I went swimsuit shopping, I ended up buying nothing because the suits were all in the Tankini formant and I just didn't like the style.

You may wonder what swimsuit shopping has to do with fitness, well to be honest, it's a vain one - but if we like our suits and we enjoy wearing them - there's a bigger chance that we'll spend more time in the pool swimming.

There's a great chain of stores here in the Dallas area called Just Add Water. I'm sure there is something similar near you. Just Add Water sells nothing but swimsuits and swimming apparel 365 days a year. The store offers a fantastic array of suits that allow you to choose the type of suit that would be best for your needs.

Have a large bust? They have good suits. Have a large rear? They have good suits. Prefer a simple one piece to something fancy and loud? They have good suits.

Even more than that, they have employees who know what they are talking about and who can help you find the suit that not only fits you well, but looks good on you. So if the only thing keeping you out of the swimming pool this summer is the feeling that you won't look good in your suit - check your area for a swimming apparel store and go find the suit that is right for you.

After that, just add water and you can enjoy summer fitness in the pool.
