Making May More Manageable

I am a sucker for alliteration. Can you tell? In a previous post, I lamented the madness that accompanies the merry month of May. From graduations and end of the school year concerts, sports tournaments, plays and awards banquets to Mother’s Day and Memorial Day, it’s enough to challenge even the most seasoned multitasker. It’s one thing to be present at each event, but quite another when you are responsible for bringing a gift, food item or other contribution. Right now, I am taking it one day at a time. This weekend, my goal is to complete my Mother’s Day … Continue reading

Cleaning in 30 Minutes or Less: Wednesdays

Today’s blog moves onto cleaning in 30 minutes or less on Wednesdays. By now I hope you understand that I am not trying to tell you what to clean and when. Instead, I want you to see how by spreading things out and picking the best days to do these chores, you are making it easier and quicker to clean. On Wednesdays I only do my quick wipe down in the kitchen because this is the day that I focus on deep cleaning my bathroom. Since it takes just a couple of minutes to do my kitchen routine, it leaves … Continue reading

Missed My Water Aerobics

Well my first day of water aerobics came and I could not go because wouldn’t you know it I had 2 kids home from school sick. Seriously this was the first time I had committed to exercise and it happens to fall on the same day my kids are home sick for the first time this year. It did not go over well with my new weight loss buddy I think she thought I was just trying to get out of it. The reality is I am actually looking forward to it. I am actually trying to get our weight … Continue reading

My Yard Goes Disney

Many of my friends are addicted to Home and Garden Television, or HG-TV. I don’t know if any of them are Disney fans, and that’s a shame. Disney website Stitch Kingdom reveals that beginning on June 6, HG-TV will air the new show “My Yard Goes Disney.” For the show Orlando-area families can sign up in hopes to win an outdoor makeover for their home by Disney designers. Yard decor will be inspired by Walt Disney World and the theme of “family memories.” That last bit clicked in my mind. It wouldn’t be too difficult to extrapolate why Disney might … Continue reading

More Memorial Day Deals- 2011

If you are someone who has the day off of work tomorrow, then you will have the opportunity to check out some of the Memorial Day sales. These deals traditionally continue through the entire three day Memorial Day weekend. This means you can still find some great sales on Monday, May 30, 2011. Your children will have the day off of school on Memorial Day. Hopefully, you work for a company that also gave you the day off, so you can spend some time together. If you are not planning on heading out to a BBQ or a party on … Continue reading

Cashing Out My Life Insurance – Step Four

My husband and I decided to cancel an old life insurance policy that I had. We no longer need it, and I now have a different life insurance policy in place that is better suited to our current needs. After making the decision to go ahead and cash out the policy, we have been going through the lengthy process that is involved when you cancel a life insurance policy. Our next step is to take a look at the form, and fill it out. It is recommended that you take the time to really think things over before cashing out, … Continue reading

The Expectations of Valentine’s Day

I don’t know if my husband and I are the only ones but despite being married nearly 20 years we don’t really go all out and celebrate Valentine’s Day. It’s not that we don’t acknowledge the day because we do. After all, I did buy my husband a card and a box of chocolates that are in the shape of a heart but look like a baseball, one of his favorite sports. I received from my husband a poem he wrote all on his own and although it was beautiful, we don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day in the sense that we … Continue reading

Free Food From EVOS on Valentine’s Day!

This Valentine’s Day, EVOS wants to help you have a healthy relationship… with your burger. You can get a free Steakburger, (or wrap, or salad) from EVOS on Feburary 14, 2011. Just print out the coupon from their Facebook page, and bring it with you to the restaurant. EVOS is my absolute favorite fast food restaurant. My husband and I go there at least once a week. Actually, we just got back from EVOS shortly before I started writing this blog. Between the two of us, I think we may have had nearly everything on their menu, and it all … Continue reading

Our Frugal Monday Night Dinner

One of my goals this year is to spend even more time in the kitchen doing some cooking from scratch. While this does take time, it reaps many benefits. I can serve my family good healthy food with minimal preservatives, and for a price that we can afford. Since I do most of the cooking for our family of five, I need to find filling meals that will stretch. The cost of food seems to be growing weekly, and the stores have more and more rules that make saving money with coupons not as easy as it used to be. … Continue reading

Happy Bookday

Monday for me was what an online friend and fellow author described as ‘happy bookday.’ It was the day my novel Streets on a Map was published. While it will be available in bookshops, it is also going to be available from my website. Since I am nobody’s idea of a computer literate person, once again I had to rely on that darling husband of mine. Not just to help me celebrate although there was some of that, but to carry in the boxes of books that are now stored in my study. Then he went in and set up … Continue reading
