Rebounding for Fitnessby Gillian Markson | More from this Blogger 25 May 2006 12:06 PM All types of people, of all ages and from all backgrounds have seen gymnasts or trapeze artists practicing flips using a large trampoline. Now, exercising on a mini trampoline or the title of rebounding is all the rage in gyms and in private homes. The relatively small size of this piece of exercise equipment makes most home models easy to store and the low impact of rebounding is a great aerobic, muscle-toning workout. But the main reason to consider this fitness activity is jumping on a trampoline is pure fun! Brought to prominence in the late 1990's, by J. B. Bern, mini trampoline workouts provide benefits to the user that other exercises simply do not offer. Low impact aerobics, ease of storage of equipment and most of all, the fun which mini trampoline workouts give to the individual! Due to this, it makes this type of workout the choice for millions throughout the world. First of all, it is the familiarity with the full sized trampoline that makes it so attractive; most people, at one time or another have been up on one, whether as children or adults. Secondly, we all know what it is like to run, jump and bounce; these types of movements are not as foreign to us as some exercises we need to take classes to learn. And most importantly, a trampoline is fun, for adults and kids alike; if you can find an exercise you like to do you will continue with workouts. Studies have shown that rebounding helps build bone mass and prevent osteoporosis. This exercise works the entire body from the muscles and joints to your lungs! Affecting a person on a cellular level, not just physical, the benefits are amazing! With easy storages under a bed, in a closet, or folding there does not have to venturing out to a gym or trying to find room for a bulky piece of exercise equipment. With a mini trampoline, now any time of the day when you feel you need a workout, hop on for a bounce! The biggest obstacles to consistent exercise are an individual's lack of time and discipline. We grow easily bored with mundane treadmill running or unmotivated with having to trek to the gym for classes. If you have a mini trampoline in the privacy of your own home think how much easier it would be to exercise. The only thing is you would not have any excuse now not to exercise! Although people have been using trampolines for fun and exercise for over two decades, it really wasn't termed rebounding till a group exercise class in 1998, when this craze took off. Besides being a great way to jump and sweat, Mr. Bern also knew that the soft surface of a trampoline absorbs 87 percent of the shock the body can endure by jumping on concrete alone. With the population of people exercising growing, it is no wonder that more of us want a lower impact workout. Because of the particular movement involved with trampoline exercise, a person isn't just exercising their muscles, but they are exercising their entire skeleton. N.A.S.A. even uses rebounding to train their astronauts! For more information about this great form of fitness, check the journals written about exercise health.
