Tango, Baby!

by Gillian Markson | More from this Blogger

With the smooth, quick snap of its moves, the Tango can be a very passionate dance to watch and be performed. Did you ever think of giving it a try? The hottest show this past summer on ABC was "Dancing with the Stars" which motivated a large number of people to run out to a dance studio and begin taking group and individual ballroom dance lessons.

The reason is dancers, besides having a great physique also are actors when dancing on the floor. The one thing they are not acting is their emotions. When the passion of two dancers dancing simultaneously the Tango; there is nothing to stop the warmth of the dance to grow.

It is quite amazing the exchange of feelings which are shown and once the dance is over; the dancers are back into reality where they remember this was a performance. To begin learning the Tango, there are some things to be aware of:

1)You will not be dancing with that amount passion from lesson one.

2)Learn and practice the steps.

3)Be patient.

During the first class the teacher will teach the basic steps of the Tango. Many times the teacher will use the words Tango and no music will be used. The teacher will spell T A N G O.

Men's Part Women's Part T - Step forward T - Step back A - Step forward A - Step back N - Step forward N - Step back G - Step side G - Step side O - Close side O - Close side

This is the first basic step of the Tango and the first three steps are even and the last two steps are quick. T-A-N-GO

The dancing should be light on the feet and no stomping. Obviously, the man leads and the woman does the opposite so the woman's steps would be mimicking the man's. The posture and hold is also very important as well as entire body structure so the woman can feel the lead by the man. No pulling or pushing, but every great lead goes through the entire body, as long as the woman doesn't back lead!

Go out and Tango for fitness and enjoy the passion you will create after a few lessons.
