Yo Gabba Gabba!

Has a children’s television show ever annoyed you so badly that you wanted to burst into tears? Is that same television show one that your toddler loves? And, is your love for your toddler the only thing keeping you from leaping at the screen, clawing at it with your fingernails, screaming? This is how I feel about “Yo Gabba Gabba!” a somewhat new children’s television show on Nick Jr. If I didn’t love my three-year-old so much, the show would be banned at my house. The host is a hyper young man wearing a huge orange wig who goes by … Continue reading

Reverend Jerry Falwell as Part of Pop Culture

I was a bit surprised when I searched Families and found no blogs about the passing of Reverend Jerry Falwell this past week. I know I must tread lightly as a blog about him seems more appropriate in a religion or even the education category as he was the founder of Liberty University. Boobah

Before I begin the review portion of this blog, allow me to take a minute to introduce my co-author. Standing at 36 inches, his hobbies include scribbling with crayons, blowing raspberries, and smearing his lunch. Ladies and gentlemen, I proudly present Benjamin, my 21-month-old son. It’s always reminded me of Teletubbies gone horribly wrong, when Teletubbies didn’t go right in the first place. But, for the … Continue reading

Fitness Tips: Mental Preparation

There is a method to this madness because mental preparation can put you into the right headspace and help keep you on track for success. The majority of people who quit their fitness or weight loss programs are not doing it because of difficulty with the exercise – but because they are bored or dissatisfied with their program. There is often a need to find a scapegoat for quitting and some reasons might include: I’m … Continue reading

Fun Web-sites for Preschoolers

Why buy a gaming console for your preschooler when there are a multitude of games they can play on-line? These games encourage eye-hand coordination and usually incorporate some educational aspect as well. My four year old can get on-line and play games without needing any adult help. My two year old loves to watch. I love that they are learning numbers, letters, colors, Spanish, matching, reasoning, and other valuable skills. My Favorite Preschool Sites Nick Jr – This site has all your child’s favorite TV characters, like Dora the Explorer, Blue’s Clues, Little Bill, Backyardigans, Diego, and more. There are … Continue reading
