The Benefits of Yoga

One of the exercise components to my Wii Fit Plus is yoga. I never thought that I would really enjoy yoga but I do. I will admit that I'm not into the psychological stuff of yoga but I have found some other benefits to yoga.
The two biggest things that I have noticed are my posture has improved and my balance is much better. I have never been a very coordinated person, yet I seem to be doing better in that area. Yoga has also stretched muscles in my body that haven't been stretched in a long time making my fitness routine more effective.
Flexibility is definitely one of the benefits of yoga. As I mentioned, muscles in my body have been stretched that haven't been in a long time. I have been pleasantly surprised to see what I am able to do now that my muscles are getting a good workout. I have also noticed that I experience a great deal less of back pain than I used to, which I contribute to yoga.
I have read that people who deal with all kinds of aches and pains find it reduced when they regularly do yoga. This has certainly been the case for me. I also contribute yoga to my energy levels being up there. There was a time when I needed a catnap every afternoon. Then I began to exercise and that started to go away.
However if I wasn't getting decent sleep which has definitely become a problem for me lately, despite exercising, I would need that 5 or 10 minute catnap mid-afternoon. Now that I have been doing yoga, I notice no matter how little sleep I get I can make it through the day without a catnap.
Yoga also improves posture, something I have noticed in my own body. This is because you develop a stronger "core" which helps you to sit and stand straighter and taller.
There are also some breathing techniques you learn. I have seen that carry on into other activities such as when I am jogging. I notice that my breathing flows much easier.
I have read that yoga offers additional benefits such as to your mood and concentration, as well as health benefits to your heart and other medical conditions. Since I am fairly new at yoga I am still learning but so far I am very impressed with the improvements I have seen in my own body. Try some yoga and see what benefits it brings to you.
