The Firm Ultimate Fat Burning Workoutby mommytotwo | More from this Blogger 25 Sep 2006 07:50 AM Have I mentioned that I love The Firm workouts? Okay, just a few times. I do love them. I love them so much that I recently purchased another DVD to add to my exercise rotation. The Firm's Ultimate Fat Burning Workout is my latest addition to my workout. I just tried it out today, and I must admit; I love it. Alison Davis, a Firm master instructor, leads you through something a bit out of the norm for The Firm workouts that I normally do. This workout does not involve a Firm step or Fanny Lifter. You don't need any fancy workout equipment for this workout, just dumbbells. Everything is done on the floor from cardio to cardio with weights. Alison Davis starts you out with a great warm up and leads you into a cardio routine with some pretty basic floor movements. You will be doing knee lifts, leg raises, walking in place with your arms pumping and knees up, you name it, you do it...but everything is very basic and easy to follow. The music is not superb, but not bad either. Alison is a great instructor, very upbeat and motivating. I do think her cueing could be a bit better, but I know that once I do this workout enough I will have no trouble following along. After the warm up and the initial cardio program, Alison leads you into a cardio routine using your weights. She introduces every move as you go and slowly builds up the speed in which you do them. Be prepared to do lunges, dips, and leg lifts for your lower body. For your upper body you will be doing bicep curls, moves for your delts, and tricep pull-downs. This segment is a great one for toning and keeping your heart rate up while you tone! Alison then launches into a routine that is more of a dance than aerobics. Never fear though, the moves aren't tough and she introduces them slowly before speeding up. You will be doing samba moves, a box step, spins and other fun movements that get your heart pumping. When this is complete you will move into some more weight work with cardio to help tone your body. The last all cardio routine is a kickboxing workout that really gets you sweating. You will be doing upper cuts, jabs, kicks, knee lifts and a shuffle while your body gets a great workout. This is probably the most fun part of the entire workout. To end the workout, Alison will do some abdominal exercises to help your core and get those abs in shape then end with some stretching, all in about 45 minutes time. This is another great Firm workout and I am so excited to add this to my DVD rotation. I am hopeful that some of you will give The Firm a chance! It is a great way to exercise!
