The Fitness Blog Week in Review for April 9- April 13

by Heather Long | More from this Blogger

Is it already the weekend? It really feels like this week escaped without barely a gasp or a whimper. In fact, as I sit here and think about it - I can't seem to remember what I was doing on Wednesday, at least not with any great clarity. Thursday, I can detail Thursday, because I spent the day with more than 20 first graders. It was a light week here in the fitness blog. Next week, however, we're going to be busy every day, so get ready!

For now, let's take a quick look at our week in review:

The Week in Review

We kicked off our Spring Forward to Action 2007: What Are We Doing? with a review of my current fitness plan and goals. I'm aiming for endurance. For those of you who are interested in a more specific plan than I would be performing for this year's challenge, I have set up: Spring Forward to Action 2006 - The Index.

The index offers you a fast set of links to the 30-day fitness challenge we hosted here in the Fitness blog in 2006. The workouts include everything from flexibility to strength training to cardio and more. There are even workouts that feature circuit training where you move from activity to activity with the goal of keeping your heart rate up.

On Friday, we tackled Spring Forward to Action: Put Your Best Foot Forward and how I had to be more flexible with achieving my goals for the day. I didn't make it to thirty minutes on the treadmill, but I did get thirty minutes of walking in a circuit around the park while my daughter and my nephew played.

Finally, our last article of the week: Children's Fitness: New Global Health Threat in the Form of Video Games? addressed a subject that is very important to me. There are serious concerns that our children and teenagers are spending too much time in front of a video game. When kids end up in the hospital and when people collapse and die from spending too much time playing games - there is an issue. It's an issue of moderation. We don't need to legislate the issue as a nation, we need to legislate it as parents.

What was your favorite article this week?
