It's the last week of December and the last full week of 2006. We did our best to cover a multitude of subjects throughout 2006 and as we head into our second year, we are well aware of the fact that January is a key month for many people getting started on their fitness programs and diving wholeheartedly into their New Year's Resolutions. We'll do our best to be there for you and to answer all the questions that we can. So what did we talk about this week?

The Top Ten Best Fitness Gifts You Can Give Yourself tackled the types of things you can do for yourself to help improve your fitness and to give yourself the gift of better health and fitness. In the Top Ten Best Fitness Goals You Can Set for Yourself, we took the best fitness gifts a step further to discuss the goals you need to begin a good fitness and health program for yourself.

I can't say how proud I am of Valorie or the reasons why I am, but then I don't need to - you can read it for yourself in 10,000 Steps and Counting: My New Best Friend the Pedometer. Ed Paul, a wonderful new addition here at Families.com dived into more information on Fitness Swimming for Beginners, I urge you to check them both out if you haven't had the chance to yet. In It's Here ... Tonight is Christmas Eve I talked about the fact that it's more than all right to skip the workout on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Monday, December 25

Continuing her experiences, Valorie discussed 10,000 Steps and Counting: Setting Some Goals and how she is going about her pedometer and 10,000 step program. In Should You Warm Up Before Golf? we answered some questions you might have had about getting warmed up for a round or two at the golf course. In The More Things Change; The More They Stay The Same we looked at the fact that the need for fitness hasn't changed and neither have the excuses. Despite all the advertisements out there, you Don't Just Do It -- you need to do more than just do it.

Tuesday, December 26

Falls Are a Leading Cause of Death in the Elderly and regular exercise can help prevent that. In Woulda, Shoulda, Coulda, Resolutions & Change we need to stop thinking about all the things we should do, could do or would do and plan for what we will do.

Fitness Classes we went over some of the basics you may need to know in order to get started on a running program or a fitness class for the New Year. Row, Row, Row Your Boat - The Rowing Machine tackled the use of the rowing machine and the benefits you can get from it.

Stretching - What You Need to Know details more on why you need to stretch and why it is fundamental to your good health and success. In Stretch Routines - Simple Tips to Follow we continued our discussion on stretching and that stretching daily is important whether it's a part of your actual workout or not. What is PNF Stretching? we answer that question for you.
