I hope you'll join us again this Saturday as we take a look back at the previous week and catch you up on the stories and articles you may have missed. Friday March 30th What is it about Sports that Brings Out the Worst in Parents? I don't know the answer to this, but I do address some of the issues we're seeing constantly in the news with regard to sports and parental involvement specifically discussing the Ukrainian father who beat his daughter in front of television cameras after she didn't qualify in an Australian swim meet. Saturday March 31st Let's Talk About April addressed where we are going and what we are doing this April especially in light of our break in mid-March. Monday April 2nd In Dear Heather ... Can You Be Frugal & Still Get a Good Workout? is a great question and we talk about the different things you can do to get a good workout and still not spend too much money. While your health is worth every dime you can afford, sometimes it's far more practical to make those dimes stretch out and enjoy the workout without going into bankruptcy. In Sleep & Your Success it's interesting to discover how much sleep can undercut your workout and your diet if you aren't getting enough. Tuesday April 3rd Readers asked and I answered about What My Workout Like These Days since my surgery and how I'm working on getting back into shape. Recuperation from illness and surgery can have a more profound effect than we may know until we try to dive back into our workout again. Wednesday April 4th Fitness Tips: Too Few Calories Can Be a Problem and while it is a catch-22, it's important to recognize that our bodies are biologically programmed to avoid starving to death - and too few calories can trigger that programming. Thursday April 5th Kid Fitness: Play Now; Pay Later addresses the need we have as parents to teach our kids all the important parts of being involved in their fitness and sports activities including stretching before and after. Friday April 6th In Dear Heather ... I Want to Journal My Experiences responds to a letter from a reader who wants to use journaling to help keep her motivated and more. Saturday, April 7th My daughter earned an award in Dusty Bottom Awards & Young Riders when she took a controlled spill off her horse during a horseback riding lesson. A dusty bottom award may sound kind of strange, but you do learn a lot when you fall off a horse - specifically how to not fall again if you can help it.
