The treadmill is a fantastic piece of equipment that provides you with the opportunity to do your workout no matter what the weather is like outside. A treadmill takes up a relatively small footprint in the home if you buy one that folds in half and it can allow you to mix it up whether you want to go fast or slow, uphill or on the flat and let's face it - it's a great way to get your exercise and your soaps in at one time. (As I've said before - I like to work out at home and I like to watch soaps, with a treadmill, I can do both.

Kick Start Your Treadmill Workout

When you have momentum, embrace it - because momentum is what gets us up off our butts and working out. Don't hesitate when you feel it and you're ready to go - because momentum can get you halfway there. So if you've got some excitement and you're ready to really kick start your treadmill workout, here's how you can do it.

  • Write down everything you want to do and want to be. How do you want to look? Where do you want to fit in? Do you want to be athletic? Do you just want to be trim? Do you want to be in shape? What do you want? Write it all down - even the parts that you think are silly
  • Put that piece of paper somewhere you can see it every day. Start every day off by reading it - it's heady stuff to reinforce into your mind day in and day out
  • Hit the treadmill and get going - document every step you take on the treadmill. How long was the session? How fast were you going? How steep was the incline? How did you feel when you got started? How do you feel now?
  • Keep track of your mileage - figure out how far you could travel each day to a dream destination or more
  • Do you feel challenged, every day? Is it too easy? Shake it up, push yourself harder - hear the cheers in your head, compete with yourself and let your momentum carry you across the finish line

This is just one-way to kick start your treadmill workout. It can work well for an exercise bike and other fitness equipment. How do you use your momentum to kick-start your exercise plan?
