Why I’m Walking a Different Way

I ran into one of my neighbors when I was walking Moose and Lally the other night. She’s one of the first people I met when I moved here last May, and we’ve been friendly ever since. She mentioned that she hadn’t seen me as much lately — I used to walk Moose and Lally past her apartment often. Her little dog would come charging out, tail wagging, to say hello. I responded that I was trying to avoid cats. Lally has become quite the kitty hunter, and there are several semi-feral cats that tend to congregate in the landscaping … Continue reading

Welcome to the first day of May here in the Fitness Blog as we count down the last week of our Spring Forward to Action Challenge. How are you doing with your workout? As I described yesterday, I’m feeling pretty great about my workout. Today is a strength-training day and I’ll make use of my free weights and my balance ball. Balance Balls Are Great For Core Workouts They allow you to focus on key muscle groups and provide you with strong support. Performing crunches, sit-ups, and 7-7-7s with the balance ball is straightforward and easy enough to do. When … Continue reading

Demonic Doors

Demonic oppression happens a number of ways. We as believers genuinely in Christ cannot be possessed by demons because what fellowship has light with darkness (2 Corinthians 6:14). This does not mean that we can’t open doors for demonic oppression in our lives. As a Christian, I believe the Holy Spirit will guide us to truth as we seek the Lord. God is gracious to work in us, changing our hearts to desire what He wills for us. Still, not everyone is receptive or at the point in their walk where they discern things in their lives that can draw … Continue reading

Budokon or Pogo Bootcamp? What’s around the next creative corner?

We’ve talked about the boredom that some people experience when they do the same routine over and over again. People talk about it enough that all the gyms, dance and yoga studios and sports clubs are working hard to capture the short attention spans of the adults who are running from responsibility to responsibility. In that vein, they are adding some interesting classes to their repertoire to get you in the door and to keep you coming back. Among some of their offerings you’ll be seeing at your local gyms and sports clubs includes: Bodukon African Dance Brazilian Martial Arts … Continue reading

Women’s Fitness: Your Duty to Yourself

Good morning Ladies, how are you today? Well, I hope. Me? Oh, I’m a bit tired. I’ve been working too much again and not taking enough time for myself. I seem to spend my life in an expectant stage of going from one project to another so fast that I forget to stop and take a breath in between them. This isn’t a healthy way to exist and I, of all people, am aware of it.
