Why I Love to Hike

One thing I am passionate about is hiking. Simply stated I love to hike and would do it every day if I could. One reason I enjoy hiking is it can offer different intensities that you can set to your needs. You can keep your hike mellow and go for a casual nature walk. Or you can go on a major hiking adventure in the mountains. My favorite type of hiking is to go on a hilly trail for about four to five miles. My favorite trails are a dirt path that are used by bicyclists, hikers, and equestrian. The … Continue reading

Jessica Simpson’s Rebound Man Takes A Hike

Here’s the deal: no matter how many photos they posed for locked in loving embraces; no matter how many times they expressed their undying affection for one another in interviews; and certainly, no matter how many times she died her hair to match his, I never once believed that Jessica Simpson and John Mayer’s romance was the real deal. Now I can gloat. According to news reports, the popular singers have broken up. Sure, there was an addendum tacked to the report that read: “perhaps not for good,” but I know better and here’s why. First, if you watched even … Continue reading

Photo Inspiration

What are the greatest inspirations for your photographs? For nature lovers it may be the great outdoors, for parents it’s likely their children, and for fashionistas it’s whatever is sashaying down the runway. Here are some cool hot spots to consider: NEW … Continue reading

Adjusting Your Health and Fitness Plan

Lately I have been writing about my mid-year goals and the changes I have been making. Since my last blog my schedule has changed and I am going to make some adjustments. For my healthy eating goals I am still going to keep up my current plan of three fruits and three veggies a day. To do this I am going to buy my veggies once or twice a week. Then I will put them in those small reusable containers in the fridge already to go to take to work. For fruit I am going to have some bananas, melon, … Continue reading

Fall Weather Equals Major Hiking

I know it may sound crazy, but I prefer fall weather over summer. I especially love to hike and do other outdoor workouts in the fall when the weather is cooler and crisp. Summer hiking tends to be more popular. My favorite hiking spots are far more crowded in the summer months than the fall months, making it hard to even find parking. However, fall hiking is by far my favorite time to hike. I like that it is cooler, less crowded and just a more pleasant way for me to get exercise. When I hike in the summer I … Continue reading

Dog vs. Yard

My dear Algernon beneath his rhubarb My dog loves her big new yard. One of the main reasons why is how many more encounters with the local wildlife she’s been able to obtain. Some of them aren’t so great. Others prove amusing. She’s had run-ins with a yellow box turtle wherein she’s been so perplexed by this strange new creature that even the slow reptile was able to escape during her investigations. That’s right: Chihiro spent the whole time of her turtle examination doing what I like to call her investigative dance: legs and shoulders hunched, head darting in and … Continue reading

Outdoor vs. Indoor Workouts

I sometimes wonder whether I prefer indoor or outdoor workouts. Where I live, weather isn’t usually a major factor. I guess it depends on what my schedule is like, how motivated I am, and if I am working out with someone. Outdoor Workouts I enjoy outdoor workouts because I love fresh air. Hiking and biking are great ways to get moving and see the world around. Hiking especially is a passion of mine because I love nature, especially tress and animals. Biking I also enjoy because you can go far in a short time. Walking can be a convenient workout … Continue reading

Rain, Rain, Come Again

Tomorrow it’s going to rain. This is no big deal in my part of the country. It rains most of the time in the winter here. Oddly enough, in my townhouse complex very few of the kids play outside in the winter rain. Snow, yes…they all go outside in the snow. But rain seems to drive us indoors into nesting mode, with a cup of hot something or other in our hands. Why enjoy a rainy day with your baby? I have one answer: it gets you out of the house. I go stir-crazy without fresh air and exercise, even … Continue reading
