With so many networks available for kids to watch these days, Nickelodeon is making good on a very old promise from their own infancy. A show used to air on their network called: You Can't Do That on Television and today, they continue with that theory by telling kids to turn off the television and go outside to play.

In recent memory, the Nickelodeon channel has hosted four on air challenges and according to news reports, they've helped some kids to lose up to 30 pounds as they inspire children and their families to eat healthier and exercise more. The challenges have encouraged kids to get involved in their school cafeteria menus and more.

The network also says that it has signed up about 100,000 children to take their challenge at home while other kids are featured in their series of Let's Just Play Go Healthy Challenge.

The third and final month of this program will kick off this Sunday at 7:30 p.m. CDT. If you have access to the Nickelodeon channel, this might be the time to check it out with your kids.

Nickelodeon is endorsing a healthy, balanced lifestyle and in their opinion that means not spending all their waking hours watching television. They do not encourage kids to turn on the television when they aren't playing and they aren't inviting them to constantly keep Nickelodeon on.

According to Nickelodeon - their interest is in maintaining a healthy audience in this generation of kids and if that means fewer hours watching their channel - they're good with that. Now - maybe you can't do that on television, but I for one am quite proud of the Nickelodeon channel.
